Scoliosis certainly bashed me up a bit and my life is different from what it might otherwise have been. Up until now I have spent very little time reflecting on what happened to me. You adjust to the way it is and scoliosis has not stopped me being happy and content.
I have found completing Back Story one of the most satisfying things I have done. As a lifetime member of the ‘scoliosis gang’, I have been very grateful for the time and encouragement all the contributors were prepared to give me.
On their behalf I would like to say to parents and adolescents who have been given an adolescent idiopathic scoliosis diagnosis, is that no matter how bleak it might immediately appear, or how upset or angry or even frightened you might be, you will come through it.
It is going to be OK, trust us, it really will be OK. That is what Back Story is all about.
