What is Back Story about?
Back Story is a radio documentary and multimedia project about Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis, a potentially devastating condition that affects young adolescents. Through a series of blog posts we will make a journey to our destination, a radio documentary. The aim of Back Story is to raise awareness of the condition, help parents navigate the decisions and dilemmas they potentially face but also provide comfort, guidance and inspiration.
Our Journey
Our Journey will be a series of production blog posts that will include contributors from a counsellor from the Scoliosis Association UK who will provide information and advice focusing on the support and counselling that is available. Leading UK spinal consultants who will explain the various treatment options and provide reassurance. Alternative treatment options will be explored by leading proponents. Parents and patients will provide their personal experience of diagnosis and life after treatment.
Our Destination
Our Destination will be a 7 minute documentary designed to be aired on “Inside Health” a BBC Radio 4 weekly production. Radio 4 is the second most popular British domestic radio station, with a target audience of 35-54 ABC1 demographic. Inside Health strives to demystify health issues and bring clarity to conflicting advice. It offers listeners impartial information and is committed to achieving the highest standards of accuracy.
The BBC is recognised as trustworthy which is vital for our target audience.
