Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is a condition where the spine twists and curves to one side. Although a common condition, with approximately 1 in 300 adolescents affected, many parents are left stunned when their child is diagnosed.
Back Story is a radio documentary that aims to raise awareness of the condition, which can be traumatic not only for the adolescent but also the parents.
Back Story, features voices from leading spinal consultants, parents and Scoliosis Association UK, the only UK wide patient support organisation for people with scoliosis and their families. The voices will provide guidance for parents in navigating the available treatment options and comfort that the prognosis for scoliosis isn’t bleak.
